Oracle Drive - 02/02/2013

We値l be touring to Oracle, AZ on  February 2, 2013

I realize we  did this same tour in October of 2012 but our destinations are somewhat limited in the wintertime when we prefer not to go to the North country. In any case, this is always a beautiful scenic tour and the food and accommodations at the Inn are always spot on.

The previously mentioned go kart driving event is on the back burner waiting for more response, so it is not anything we will be doing in January unless I receive more interest from the members. I値l keep you informed as the process develops or doesn稚.

Our destination will be Oracle, AZ and the Oracle Inn & Steakhouse for lunch where we have a private banquet room reserved. Here is their phone number in the event you need it  Ph: (520) 896-3333  http://www.oracleinn.com/

Info on Oracle http://oracletown.com/

Starting point will be exit 197, Tomahawk Road.,  off the HWY 60.  We will meet at the Chevron on the N.W. corner.

When you come down the ramp, turn left under the highway and the Chevron and convenience store will be on the right. We値l assemble there at 9:00 AM and depart at 9:15 AM. We値l take highway 60 all the way to Globe and we will stop at the Chevron gas station and convenience store in Globe at the east end of town for 15 or 20 minutes for a comfort break. This first leg from the Tomahawk Road Chevron station to Globe is approximately 70 miles.

We値l head east out of Globe on Highway 60 and in just a short distance turn right on Highway 77 south. It will be approximately 70 miles to the next turn which is American Way in Oracle. Look first for Tiger Mine Road and American Way is about ス mile further south. Turn left on American Way and follow it west to north Evergreen Drive and turn south, the Oracle Inn & Steakhouse should be on your immediate left.

Following our stay in Oracle we will backtrack our route north on highway 77 approximately 40 miles to the town of Winkelman, where we will pick up highway 177 north through the towns of Hayden, Kearny, Riverside, Kelvin and finally into Superior. Comfort or fuel stops will be decided along the way and called out on the radio. From Superior, we will head west on highway 60 for a return to Phoenix.

The scenery on highway 77 is picture post card stuff and should be beautiful in October with the fall color change. This is truly a beautiful drive and I am sure the meal at the Oracle Inn & Steakhouse will also be excellent, we have eaten there previously.

Please have a full fuel tank at the start of the tour and remember to bring along your FRS radio and always have an Arizona state map handy and you may want a light jacket.

As always, I will need your RSVP for the restaurant head count, please be prompt with this.

Thanks,

Paul Ebeyer, President
