Info on Oracle

Starting point will be exit 197, Tomahawk Road.,  off the HWY 60.  We will meet at the gas station on the N.E. corner.

When you come down the ramp, turn left under the highway and the station and convenience store will be on the right. We’ll assemble there at 9:30 AM and depart at 9:45 AM. We’ll take highway 60 all the way to Globe and we will stop at the gas station and convenience store in Globe at the far east end of town where you will see a sign pointing to the Salt River Canyon, the station is on your right. (we're not going to the canyon) We'll be there for 15 or 20 minutes for a comfort break and fuel if you need it. This first leg from the Tomahawk Road to Globe is approximately 70 miles.

We’ll head east out of Globe on Highway 60 and in just a short distance turn right on Highway 77 south. It will be approximately 70 miles to the next waypoint which is American Way in Oracle.  Turn left on American Way and follow it west to north Evergreen Drive the Oracle Inn & Steakhouse should be right in front of you.

Following our stay in Oracle we will backtrack our route north on highway 77 approximately 40 miles to the town of Winkelman, where we will pick up highway 177 north through the towns of Hayden & Kearny where we will take the detour in Kearney and go see the copper mine, we'll be making a right turn off hwy 177. It is all set up for visitors including a restroom. When we leave, we will backtrack to Hwy 177 and Continue north to Riverside, Kelvin and finally into Superior. Comfort or fuel stops will be decided along the way and called out on the radio. From Superior, we will head west on highway 60 for a return to Phoenix.

The scenery on highways 77 & 177 is picture post card stuff and should be beautiful. This is truly a beautiful drive and I am sure the meal at the Oracle Inn & Steakhouse will also be excellent, we have eaten there previously several times.

Please have a full fuel tank at the start of the tour and remember to bring along your Baofeng radio and this tour guide. You may want a light jacket,
I don't know what the 11/5 weather will be at elevations.

As always, I will need your RSVP for the restaurant head count, please be prompt with this. I already removed the names of those members who
will not be attending.
