September 12 - Little America, Flagstaff, AZ

The tour will be on Saturday September 12th, 2020 & The destination will be the Little America restaurant & hotel in Flagstaff for lunch

We're all looking forward to this after being  prisoners in our own homes for several months.

We will have a generous menu selection (see food menu and cocktail menu, )  and billing by couples. http://flagstaff.littleamerica.com/dining/tiffany-tree-lounge  We can eat either in the main dining room or outdoor patio, our choice once we arrive and observe the local weather conditions. In either case, all the Covid 19 precautions and social distancing will be strictly enforced, not to worry about that. For your convenience, here is a link to Little America in general http://flagstaff.littleamerica.com/

We will meet in Fountain Hills at the Target shopping center. Please meet in front of the Target store. There are restrooms and also a Starbucks in the lobby. The center is located at Shea Blvd and Saguaro Blvd in Ftn Hills. We will meet at 8:45 AM and depart at 9:00 AM and head north on Hwy 87 to Payson where we will take a 15-minute comfort break near the casino at the gas station. We will continue north on highway 87 up the rim and to Clint’s Wells. There is a restroom there and we can stop if needed. Departing Clint's Wells in 1/4 mile we make a left turn and pick up Hwy 87A toward Flagstaff.  DO NOT BEAR RIGHT AND TAKE HWY 87 TO WINSLOW.   We will continue on hwy 87A to Happy Jack, passing Mormon Lake & continue north on 87A. We learned last time some of us needed a comfort break at Clint's Wells so it is possible we will all make this stop but listen for updates on the club radio. Remaining on 87A we'll head toward Lake Mary and Flagstaff. As we approach Flagstaff from the southeast, we will be on Lake Mary Road and after a few turns beyond the overpass we'll be making a couple of right hand turns to get on the Interstate. There is not much advance warning after the "40" sign so go slowly as you search it out and this will take us to a right hand 180 degree curve that will put you on Interstate 40.  Then, look for the Albuquerque signs and following that look for signs on the right that say, "Little America" (exit 198-Butler Ave. is the correct off ramp) and that is where you get off. Little America will be down that road a short distance straight ahead and on your right. Select a parking place on their lot and enter the main entrance and then get to the dining room. Restrooms are also handy just past the entrance lobby to your right.

Please have a full fuel tank at the start and remember to bring your club radio and your club name badge. We can get fuel at Little America after lunch for the return trip. There are a few different routes to return to the Valley the same way we went up or take I 17 all the way home or you can take Oak Creek Canyon down to Sedona and from Sedona there are two alternate routes - consult your state map which we recommend you bring with you on every club tour.  We can discuss this toward the end of the luncheon and everyone is free to pair up with whomever they wish and select whatever route you prefer. In any case, this is usually a full day of driving and some socializing.

We look forward to seeing everyone who has or is signing up, so please send me your RSVP. If you need the more powerful 5.0 watt Boafeng radio, I will bring a couple with me, $35 each and much better than the Motorola 0.5 watt & knock offs.
