~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We’ll meet at the Albertson’s shopping center on Carefree Hwy 1/2 mile
east of Hwy 17 on the north side of Carefree highway. Park on the east
side of the McDonalds parking lot. Meeting time is 9:45 AM and
departure time is 10:00 AM. Upon departing, turn right out of
McDonalds a short distance to the traffic circle, bear right and take
Carefree Hwy about 20 miles west to Hwy 60/93 and turn north to
Wickenburg, it’s about 10 more miles to Wickenburg where we’ll stop at
McDonalds for a 15-minute comfort break.
Departing the Wickenburg McDonalds, turn right a short distance to the
traffic circle and take hwy 93/ 89 toward Kingman. In about 7 miles
there will be a split to the right for hwy 89,
that’s where you want to go;
don’t
continue on 93 north.
Hwy 89 will take us to the town
of Yarnell and eventually to Prescott, about 34 more miles. We’ll be
driving through the Prescott National Forest, very scenic and a very
twisty road.
Your next turn will be to the right on Haisley Rd,
the second right past
milepost 309 on hwy 89. It will take you
to Senator Hwy (the
name changes to Mt Vernon Ave). But stay on it until you get to Gurley
Street where you should right but get into the left lane ASAP because
you will soon be making a left turn
to remain on hwy 89 north.
The other hwy at this
junction is hwy 69 to the right; avoid
that one. It is
about 12 miles from the 89/ 69 junction to the Bonn Fire Café on your
right. It’s adjacent to Hwy 89; you can’t miss it. There are a couple
traffic circles as we drive north on 89 toward the Cafe. Just be sure
you follow the hwy 89 north signs to the Café.
Please bring your club name tag, club radio, and this route guide, and
start with a full fuel tank.
Please send me your RSVP
so I can get the head count for the Café, the current attendance list is
attached. I’m guessing the metro Prescott area will be chilly so bring
clothing you will be comfortable in.
Thanks, looking forward to another great drive and some visiting time.
Distance is approximately 120 miles one way and we’re set for a 12:00 to
12:30 lunch.
Thanks.
