Lunch will be at
Guayos on The Trail Mexican
restaurant
On Saturday, November 12th we will have a
one-day touring event through Jake’s Corner, Punkin Center, Roosevelt
Lake, Globe, loop. To many of you, this will be a familiar route as we
have done it in the past. As best that I can calculate, this will be
about a 205-mile round trip with a lot of beautiful scenery around
Roosevelt Lake.
We will begin the tour at the Target
shopping center parking lot in Fountain Hills located at the
intersection of Saguaro and Shea Blvds. We’ll meet in front of the
Target store, there is a Starbucks in their lobby and restrooms
available. Plan to arrive at 9:45AM and we'll depart at 10:00
AM. As always, please arrive with a
full fuel tank, your club radio, name tags and this route guide.
We will proceed north on Hwy 87 for 50
miles to the Junction with Hwy 188. Turn right on to hwy 188 heading for
Jake’s corner, about 1 mile, and we will pull in the lot and park for 15
minutes for a comfort break. Then on to Pumpkin Center and
Roosevelt Lake. When we pass the lake bridge, we will come to the scenic
overlook on the left and we MAY stop there to kill a
little time and stretch our legs, listen in on your club radio whether
we will stop or not. Hwy 188 changes to Hwy number 88 past the dam and
we will continue until we reach the restaurant just outside of Globe.
There is fuel available in Globe and we can either fill up before or
after lunch depending upon our ETA which is about 12:00. Guayos on The
Trail is on highway 88, left side, a few miles before entering Globe.
