Lunch at Little America near Flagstaff
The next tour will be on Saturday June 3rd 2023 & The
destination will be the
Little America restaurant & hotel in Flagstaff for lunch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IMPORTANT
We just learned today that there is critical road damage on Hwy 87 from
Clint's Wells 13 miles south to the Hwy 260 west turnoff, to Camp Verde.
Apparently, the snow removal vehicles and equipment have made that road
section impassible and it was in our original tour guide to go to Clints
Wells.
☹
I have changed the tour guide and it is below.
Please destroy/delete the original guide previously sent and use this
new one.
It forces us to drive on I-17 from Camp Verde to
Little America, 55 miles, but there are no other choices. The first part
of the drive from Ftn Hills to Pine and Strawberry remain the same as
the original route and it’s always scenic and a fun sports car road.
Hwy 260 to Camp Verde is scenic as well and a fun drive but it is a
haven for ELK so be cautious and safe.
We will have a generous menu
selection and billing by couples. For
your convenience, here is a link to Little America.
For GPS users, the Little America address is 2525 E. Butler Ave,
Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
We will meet in Fountain Hills at the Target shopping center, please
meet in front of the Target store. There are
restrooms and a Starbucks in the lobby if you want coffee. The
Target center is located at Shea Blvd and Saguaro Blvd in Ftn Hills.
We will meet at
9:00 AM and depart at 9:15 AM and head north on Hwy 87 to Payson
where we will take a 15-minute comfort break
at the gas station near the casino.
We will continue north on highway 87 up the rim and to Pine &
Strawberry. Approximately 5 miles north of
Strawberry there is a sign for hwy
260 west and turn left there
and that will take us to Camp Verde and
Interstate 17. Get on 17 north to Flagstaff about 55 miles and as
you get closer to Flagstaff stay in the right two lanes to exit # 340A
to merge onto Interstate 40 to Albuquerque and then take exit # 198,
Butler Ave to Little America which will be down that road a short
distance ahead and on your right. We’ll be in
the main dining room.
Please have a full fuel tank at the start and
bring
your club radio, club’s name badge and this guide. We can get
fuel at Little America after lunch for the return trip.
There are a few different routes to return to the Valley:
the same way we went up or take I 17 all the way home or you can take
Oak Creek Canyon down to Sedona and from Sedona there are two alternate
routes, consult your state map which we recommend you bring with you on
every club tour. we can discuss this toward the end of the
luncheon and everyone is free to pair up with whomever they wish and
select whatever route you prefer. In any case, this is usually a full
day of driving and some socializing.
Please send me your RSVP.
Thanks,
Paul Ebeyer
