Audio Connector May Be
Available |
Member Ky Coffee offers the
following tip:
If you have a 2007 or later
Z4, there is a 3.5 mm audio connector under the dash just above where
the ash tray is at the front of the console (or would be) I believe
this is a common connector for the iPod and similar devices.
3.5 mm = 1/8 inch
The cable cost me a fortune ~~~~~~~~~~99 cents + tax !
You can get a suitable cable
from Radio shack where I bought mine. I selected the 3 feet long
version, perfect. Your FRS radio must have the 3.5 mm outlet, usually
on the side of the radio covered by a flap but maybe not depending
upon the model you have.
The cord is male at both ends,
plug one end under the dash and the other end to your radio.
Turn the radio to AUX mode and
when another member transmits you will hear them through the car
speakers. I have mine all connected and it’s awesome because the
fidelity of the car speakers is so much better than the cheap little
speaker in the FRS radio
Our thanks to Ky, leave it to
the “new guy” to teach us about our cars ~~~~~~~~HA! HA!

And Dennis Bassi adds: For
those of us with a Cassette, you could do the same with a cassette
adapter to headphone plug. They sell for $10-$20.
